BACKGROUND:

Marvin has been quoted in various news publications about foreclosures, collections, identity theft, money transmitters, financial literacy, real estate law, and various legislative topics. These publications include the Honolulu Advertiser, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, and the Pacific Business News.
During the 1980's, Marvin Dang was a legislator in the Hawaii State House of Representatives and was elected as an Assistant Minority Floor Leader. He was a member of the following House committees: Education; Higher Education & the Arts; Agriculture; Water, Land Use Development & Hawaiian Affairs; Energy, Ecology & Environmental Protection; and Ocean & Marine Resources.
Marvin is a registered lobbyist in the State of Hawaii. He represents clients on a wide range of legislative issues including: regulation of financial institutions, mortgage loan originators, and mortgage brokers; lending; creditors' rights; foreclosures; financial literacy; education; identity theft; money transmissions; and real estate.
Marvin chaired the Collection Law Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association for 6 years and is its immediate past Chair. He is a member of the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys and the American Collectors Association (ACA) International.
He currently serves on the Hawaii State Judiciary's Committee on District Court Rules and Forms. He had been appointed by the Chief Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court.
Marvin Dang is a former Senior Vice President & General Counsel for an FDIC-insured Hawaii financial services loan company. He was responsible for governmental affairs and regulations, community relations, and compliance for the financial institution.
In 2006, Marvin was appointed by the President of the Hawaii State Senate to the Hawaii Identity Theft Task Force. He was elected as Vice-Chair of the Task Force. In 2005, the Senate President appointed Marvin to the Hawaii Anti-Phishing Task Force, which focused on identity theft issues.
The President of the American Bar Association (ABA) appointed Marvin Dang in 2008 to the ABA's Standing Committee on Publishing Oversight. Previously, Marvin was an appointed member on the ABA’s Coalition for Justice and the ABA's Standing Committee on Delivery of Legal Services.
In 2008, Marvin Dang was elected as a Council Member-at-Large to the ABA's General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Division.
Marvin belongs to the American Prepaid Legal Services Institute (API). He was on the API Board of Directors for 3 years. In 2000, Marvin was appointed by the ABA President to a 3 year term on the ABA’s Standing Committee on Group and Prepaid Legal Services.
